Note this section discusses the requirements of fisherman and hunters needing a torch for close range jobs such as setting up rods or managing despatched quarry at night. For actual hunting (i.e. pest control) please see the Hunting (Lamping) section.
Torches for Fishing and hunting use are similar to the requirements of backpackers and campers. They will be compact as it will be carried on the person or in a kit/tackle bag at all times. It will also need to be lightweight as fishermen and hunters have enough equipment to carry around without having to worry about a large and heavy D-cell flashlight weighing on their shoulders.
Rechargeable devices are not recommended for fishing and hunting use, unless you are fishing from a vessel and have the ongoing ability to recharge the unit. Even so, in the event of a vehicle breakdown you could be still be left without a torch so a 123A Lithium powered model is always the preferred option.
The torches recommended for Fishing and Hunting use are listed after this Buyers Guide article or you can click the following links for in-depth information about each of the torch models -
