"Tactical" or "Fighting" Modes Momentary & Strobe are to the Right or Clockwise on the Rotary Dial "Administrative" Modes
Constant ON / Dimming / Lock-Out are to the Left or Anticlockwise on the Rotary Dial
Standard Momentary Activation Mode - Full Clockwise Rotation - PRESS ON - RELEASE OFF. As long as the tailcap button is pressed ON As soon as it is released the light is extinguised
Strobe Mode - Middle Setting - PRESS ON - RELEASE OFF. As long as the tailcap button is pressed the light is STROBING. This is deployed when the operator wishes to close the gap, disorient threats, or gain the attention of teammates.
Constant On Mode and Adjustable Light Level Mode - Full Anticlockwise Rotation
Constant On - In this mode, the user quickly performs a PRESS AND RELEASE on the tailcap button. The light will stay on. Quickly PRESS AND RELEASE the button again, the light goes OFF
Adjustable Light Level Mode - Full Anticlockwise Rotation. The user activates a HOLD on the tailcap button, the light will be either dimmming or brightening. Example: If the user HOLDS the tailcap switch while in the Contact ON Mode, the light beings an auto-dim sequence after 1.5 seconds. When the desired light level is aceived, the user simply releases the tailcap switch and the light stays at that level. If the users wants to increase output from there, the user HOLDS again for 1.5 seconds and the light will increase in output. This light has a greateer than 100:1 dimming ratio 4 watts to 0.03 watts. The process of going from full power to the lowest possible level takes 3 seconds once the dimming sequence has started.
System Off Mode Press the tailcap button halfway down when the rotary dial is in the full anticlockwise position to unlock additional rotary dial travel. Once the additional rotation is acheived, the light is "Locked Out" and the tailcap will not depress. This allows the light to be stored in a "go-bag" with other gear, or in a holster without accidental light activation. To get the light in the fight, simply and quickly rotate the tailcap to the right or anticlockwise, press the tailcap and go.
Special Features
Auto Temperature Control
Within the electronics package of the Gladius is a proprietary feature that automatically regulates temperature. If a user neglects to Lock-out the tailcap and the light temperature becomes excessive, the automatic temperature control features then cuts the LED power by 50% (25% light reduction) allowing the temperature of the Gladius to gradually reduce. The light will continue to run.
Backup Plan
If for some reason the temperature is not reduced and it continues to rise past a critical threshold, power is automatically terminated to protect the LED and surrounding material from being damaged. Once the light has sufficiently cooled, it can be recycled to full power output by simply pressing the tailcap normally.
Low Battery Indication
Run-time of the battery will vary depending on the type of usage and functions that the user requires of the Gladius. When the battery life reaches a pre-determined point it will begin a process of two noticeable, consecutive, rapid pulses every 15 seconds until the batteries are replaced. The low battery indication is programmed for the momentary and constant on modes ONLY.
